OFF SHOULDER TIE TOP WITH STEP HEM JEANS

I’ve been seeing the step-hem all over the place and I’m a fan.  It’s essentially when the front hem of your jeans is cut shorter than the back, always in a raw/undone hem.  I wasn’t sure how long the trend would last, but looks like it’s here to stay and I can see it going strong into the fall (not like I’m trying to rush that!).

That said, sometimes I want to try on a trend without forking out a ton of cash, so I’ll alter something I already have.  When it comes to denim, it’s so easy to get this look with a pair of skinnies you already have in your closet.  Use a stitch ripper to undo the hem, fray it a bit by pulling at it or running open scissors along it, then cut vertically up along the side seams, about two inches, and straight across.  Once you wash your denim a few times, you’ll get a great, frayed hem going.  The more you wear ’em, the better they will look.

I don’t know about you girls, but as much as I love summer, I still really love wearing denim or shorts with long sleeved tops, to balance out the proportions.  I’ve never been a big dress girl, mainly because they always run so short on me, and often don’t fit quite right–but that doesn’t stop me from hunting for them still.

That said, I love that we are seeing distressed denim moving into skirts and that summer is finally here!  We don’t have much planned in the way of vacations this season, but really looking forward to enjoying the new home, hosting friends and family, BBQ’ing and sitting outside on the back deck.  Would love to know if you girls have any travel plans coming up–let me know in the comments down below.

Happy Thursday!
