Every year for the holidays I love to break out the sparkle–more specifically, sequins! It’s such a fun way to incorporate a little holiday pizzazz and now with so many great options, it’s easy to go all out or just add a touch to your look.
One of my favourite ways to wear sequins is a t-shirt style–not too snug, pairs great with denim to skirts, or even try layering it over a bodycon dress.

All that said, when it comes to the holidays, why not be a little extra this year!? Go all out! Today’s pairing is definitely that–sequins, patent leather, mesh and lucite, there is a lot going on. But! If there is anytime of year that you can have a lot going on and just go all out, it’s definitely the holidays.
My girlfriend is actually throwing her annual Christmas party next Friday evening and the theme is sparkle (last year was a glam elf theme, and the year before that was xmas pajamas)! All the girls that attend the party try to outdo each other every year, so this year I’m not holding back and going full sequin. I’ll definitely share on Instastories what I end up wearing!
If full sequin-sparkle-crazyness isn’t your thing, think of your sequins as the one item you will wear to shine, and keep everything else really casual. For instance, this top + dark denim skinny jeans (and an ankle boot or pump), or a sequin skirt with a cozy sweater (similar to one of the looks in this lookbook I did a couple years back). Alternatively, if you’re wearing a dress, pair with an easy over the knee boot to stay warm and avoid having to wear tights, throw a leather jacket on top or even an oversized cozy cardigan. The options are unlimited and almost everything is accepted when it comes to sequins at this point, so have fun with it. Also!
