SUNNY, COLD WINTER DAY OUTFIT

I have a couple more winter style posts for you girls, so hopefully you’re not sick of them yet.  We just got a big dumping of snow after seeing grass for weeks–ugh–such a bummer.  This is typical fashion for us, every March we tend to get one last winter hurrah.  I’m so over the snow, but alas here we are.

Back to the outfit, since we’re getting bundled up again, I’m sharing how I do that + a little real talk after the jump about investing in a parka when you live in a legit cold climate *raises hand*.

O U T F I T  D E T A I L S  :  MACKAGE PARKA (LOVE THIS, SLIGHTLY SHORTER STYLE, BUDGET FRIENDLY)  |  FUR POM BEANIE  |  BLACK JEANS  |  LACE UP SNOW BOOTS  |  CROSS BODY BAG (BUDGET FRIENDLY)  |  LEATHER GLOVES (SIMILARSIMILAR)  |  FINGERLESS GLOVES (SIMILAR)

I haven’t worn this jacket in an official outfit post since I first got it two years ago, however it’s the jacket I wear the most all winter.  Our winters in Ottawa can get as cold as -40C (and summers can get as hot as +40C!  It’s quite the swing we experience) so having a warm winter jacket is imperative.  For a really long time, like six years, I wore my TNA parka.  It was a big investment at the time, and my first real winter coat (also purchased on sale on Boxing Day).  This jacket, however, was a much bigger investment when the time came, and it’s proven it’s worth time and time again, day after day for months on end.

I remember seeing the hang tag on this one saying it would be warm enough up to -30C, which is something Mackage does on all their jackets, which I love.  Bearing such frigid temperatures honestly sucks, but if you have a warm enough jacket, it makes all the difference.  The massive hood on this one is great for blocking the wind, but I especially love the details they put into their jackets to make them as flattering as possible despite being bundled up like a marshmallow.

Again, going back to cost-per-wear, the jacket is definitely an investment, but if it’s something you will wear daily for four-ish months of the year, it’s worth saving up for.

Lastly I know I’m hyping Mackage on this post, and this isn’t sponsored, I just really love this jacket and know I’ll be wearing it for many years to come.  I looked at several brands when I was looking to pull the trigger on a good one, and I continue to love and admire the styling details Mackage brings to they pieces.  Mine was a special edition jacket a couple years back, so the gold hardware and black fur are different from the regular “Kerry” winter down coat, but they also have some killer new styles that I’ll link in the widget below (dreaming of an olive green one with burgundy fur next!).  Mackage, if you’re reading this, I’d love to work together! 😉
