It’s the last day of December, and what a year it’s been.  Last year I did a video recap of the year, but this year we captured so many outfits, I wanted to share my favourites.  There were definitely some that I look back on and don’t love, and it was interesting to look back on years past and see how much my style has truly changed.

Here you can find outfits from 2014, 20132012, 2011 & 2010, if you’d like.

I used to love very girly looks, plenty of skirts and form fitting pieces, but now I’m all about the edgier, casual pieces–that said, the one constant: heels!  Although I have come to really appreciate flats, and wear them way more often, I still have a serious soft spot for heels, but am much pickier than before and comfort tends to win.

I think the whole question of personal style may be a lifelong journey, but I do feel more comfortable than ever in knowing what I like, and what I don’t like.  In 2016, I made it a goal for myself to buy more quality pieces, and less quantity… and while I did still purchase a lot, I have started to really question the pieces I’m buying.  If I’m hesitating in the fitting room, despite feeling like I want it, I know I’ll probably get it home and feel that same hesitation.  Sometimes it’s hard to walk away, but I usually will and if I can’t stop thinking about it a few days later, I’ll go back–but usually my gut was right.

Ultimately, I know I love neutrals, I am drawn to them and feel my best and most myself in them.  So when I find myself gravitating towards a bright, colourful top in store, I try to take a step back and question if I’ll truly love wearing it.  For the most part, I put items like that back telling myself I will find something I love even more, in a neutral palette.  I have, however, incorporated several colourful pieces into my workout wardrobe, which gives me that pop I sometimes crave.

Finally, I just wanted to say thanks.  Thanks for reading.  Thanks for being here.  Thanks for the odd comment or like or tweet.  I love interacting with you guys, and you really make blogging so much better than if I was here on my own.  We aren’t a huge crew, but we are a solid crew, and you bring a smile to my face everyday.  So thank you.

I will be sharing a full recap of the year’s best moments, but until then, I hope you have a safe and happy New Year.  Do you have some fun plans?  We are heading to our friend’s home for a party with our friends.  The dress code is semi-formal, which should be fun.  I also love that I won’t have to freeze standing outside in a lineup to get in somewhere ()!  Whether you’re hanging out on the couch at home (I seriously would be happy doing that too) or heading out on the town, I hope you have a great evening & I’ll see you next year!
