MINT LEATHER JACKET + MY CURRENT FAVE JEANS

This jacket has been in my closet for over four years, in fact, my Facebook “memory” just came up the other day from when Marco and I were first dating and there was a picture of me wearing it.  And while I love shopping and buying news things and getting that rush of finding something new, when you find a quality, staple for your wardrobe that you’re still wearing years and years later, that is the definition of a true wardrobe jackpot.

O U T F I T  D E T A I L S  :  MAISON SCOTCH LEATHER JACKET — OLD (SIMILAR,40% OFF!)  |  F21 DISTRESSED TEE (SIMILAR)  |  DISTRESSED DENIM (ALSO HEREDIFFERENT WASH ON SALE)  |  WRAP UP BLOCK HEELS — ALMOST SOLD OUT  |  BAG (BUDGET FRIENDLY)

It’s only been recently that I really started investing in my wardrobe; higher quality basics, handbags, denim and shoes (of course!) are where my money has typically been focused.  It’s proven to be a smart decision as I continue to wear, re-wear and style the pieces in different ways and get great cost-per-wear out of them.

That said, I’m totally always searching for sales, and both this leather jacket and these distressed jeans were purchased at Winners, at a fraction of the price you would normally find them.  Shopping at places like that (TJ Maxx, Marshalls + online during sales) are a great way to dip your toe into the waters of slightly pricier items, without as much guilt.  However, it is definitely a time commitment and you don’t often score on the first visit, so it’s whether you’re willing to dedicate that time to the hunt.  That said, trust me when I say, I always thought I loved my Urban Planet and Zara denim just as much as I would a designer brand, but I was wrong.  So very wrong–and it kind of pains me to admit it!  I love sharing budget-friendly finds, but a higher quality denim has really won me over.

These jeans were the first pair of Citizens that I purchased and when people said their denim got better over time, I truly didn’t believe them–until owning these now for almost a year, where they have become the first pair I choose when the weekend rolls around.  I remember even saying to Marco a few months ago, that all other jeans I had tried would always stretch out, and I’d wash them after every wear (I’m also a bit of a germ-a-phobe), but these don’t stretch out, and just get better with wear.  I don’t need another pair, but I want another pair and am saving up for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in July to possibly pull the trigger!

Additionally, thank you for all the sweet messages on yesterday’s post about us buying our home!  It means so much to know you’re rooting for us and excited as well.  More to come!
