I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, when the weekend hits, I’m all about comfort. So excited to pull these sneakers out of hiding again for fall, after a summer of open toes, I’m gladly slipping back into these.
Onto the look, casual style doesn’t have to mean boring or frumpy, it can be pulled together and still stylish while running errands and getting things done. I think the key to pulling a very basic, jeans + tee outfit together is to bring in slightly more elevated pieces. To me, that’s always a leather (or suede) jacket, clean sneakers and a structured bag.
Avoid the dirty gym shoes, a shapeless jacket or a bag that’s falling apart. Sometimes it can feel weird pairing ‘fancy’ items with more casual pieces, but that is the perfect juxtaposition to achieve a pulled together look. I like to keep a leather jacket in the backseat of my car in case I’m out and the temps drop, throw it on and suddenly you’ve added a great third piece that ups the ante. Bonus, this kind of jacket usually works well with everything from a cocktail dress, to gym clothes or a hoodie to something more chic on date night. Very versatile.
These shoes (also seen in this outfit post) are definitely not budget friendly, but I lusted after them for almost a year and pulled the trigger when we were in Italy last year. Which also means I saved 12% on the price as a non-Italian citizen. I shared that tip in this video a couple years back, but essentially if you spend over $250 in a store, you will save 12% on your total purchase when travelling abroad. It’s an excellent way to get something extra special on a trip, if you’ve been saving up.
As for sizing, Golden Goose runs true to size, I’m a 10 across the board, and took a 40 in these. For comparison, sometimes at Aldo I’m a 41 and in Steve Madden I’m usually a 9.5 (but everywhere else, a 10). The inside of these shoes are leather, giving you alllllll the comfort vibes; these are truly the definition of you get what you pay for, and I wore them almost everyday on our trip after purchasing them, walking all day long.
That said, you can still be stylish without spending a small fortune, so I’ve rounded up some sneakers I’m loving under $130:
O U T F I T D E T A I L S : SUEDE JACKET (MY FAVE FAUX LEATHER) | LONG SLEEVE THERMAL | RAW EDGE DENIM (WANT THESE NEXT) | SNEAKERS (HERE IN WHITE) | CELINE BAG (BUDGET FRIENDLY)
Hope you girls are having a great weekend. I just wanted to hop on and share a new outfit, I had planned to get one up on Friday and then Thursday night was Marco’s softball finals and we went out with the team afterwards and it was just a great, but late evening. They didn’t end up winning, but it was an exciting game, and I cheered on all their playoff games the weekend before and on Monday. #teamphotographer — not really, I’m not on the team, haha, but… someone needs to take the pictures, right?!
Do you girls play any sports? I used to play basketball as a kid, and a few years back, Marco and I played volleyball together. However, that only lasted a couple seasons because he’s pretty competitive (and a ridiculously amazing athlete) and then there’s me… so, it’s best we don’t play team sports, haha!
I’m off to go see my sister and nephew partake in a little event today, so I’ll be on Instastories sharing that and I’ll see you back here tomorrow morning for the Weekend Recap. Have a great day! xo
