Hello hello! Yesterday the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access opened for us Canadians, and like the past three years (2018, 2017 & 2016 posts), I was there with bells on ready to shop. I love this sale and explained all the details of it in this post if you’re new to it this year.
Reminder: the sale opens to everyone on Friday.
Today’s post, however, is about everything I tried on yesterday and links to snag it all. If you have a Nordstrom Visa, you can shop the sale now, but if not, public access opens on Friday at 12:30pm EST.
Let’s jump in…
V-NECK BUBBLE SLEEVE SWEATER | CROPPED FLARES
This sweater is so pretty! The material is super soft and if you size up, you can easily wear it off the shoulder. I’m wearing an XL in the grey and a large in the pink–both are so good and under $40.
Next, the only pair of jeans I tried on for the entire sale–these cropped flared medium wash from Frame. There is definitely a great selection of denim in the sale, but my store was mostly carrying skinny jeans. I’m kind of ‘over’ skinny jeans and want to add more straight leg styles to my wardrobe. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not giving up my skinnies, just something a little more wider at the hem is more on trend currently.
Back to these jeans–I took my usual size but wasn’t crazy about them. Despite being 5’11, I felt like these kind of cut me off and made my legs look shorter. The comfort was 100 though, the denim is soft, stretchy but sucks you in.
LONG SWEATER | FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS
This sweater is so soft and cozy and I love how long it is. It definitely runs big and I’m wearing a large which was quite roomy, so I probably could have done a medium. The snaps on the side slits function and the sleeves are long. This is a great piece to wear with leggings because it covers the booty and who doesn’t love a good winter white sweater?
The infamous Spanx leather leggings. I feel like I need to touch on these despite the fact that everyone and their mother seems to love them—myself included! I tried these on last year and wasn’t blown away, but this year I’m singing a different tune. Maybe it’s the fact that I’ve tried a bunch of different (similar) styles in the past year and not found a favourite or maybe my tastes are simply changing. The one thing that struck me about these though is the comfort level. The thick waist band, the fabric, the stretch, and ultimately the fabric is so comfortable. They are extra long so would easily tuck into any ankle bootie and they just feel really good on. I’m wearing a large.
These grey sweatpants are everything! I put these on and it was and instant yes—they are thick, with a nice waistband that sits just below the belly button, plus they are a full length pant. They are comfortable but would also keep you warm in cooler climates and fit tts; I’m wearing a medium. They also come in a pretty cornflower blue, but you girls know I love my neutrals.
The blush pink teddy coat was cute and cozy but honestly, not my favourite. If you’re looking for more of a sweatshirt hoodie that isn’t too bulky, then this is great. If you want this for more of a jacket, it’s kind of thin and maybe not ideal for that. I’m wearing a large but should have grabbed a medium.
This cropped military style jacket is super cute and lightweight—very similar to how the brand creates their flannel shirts. It’s flowy and would act as a second layer versus a warm coat. I love the patch detail on the side & am wearing a medium.
This leopard midi slip dress was really nice—the fabric is like a poly-blend so it’s not satin and won’t accentuate every lump and bump 😉 It also felt thick with no stretch. There is a long slit up the front and straps are adjustable. I would say it fits tts, I’m wearing a medium.
This cardigan is really nice—I love the fabric of this one, it’s a tighter knit but super soft. The length is great, just above the knee, and it just feels really comfortable on. I grabbed a large in this one because I wanted it to be a bit longer but the sizing wasn’t crazy oversized so a medium or large would work fine.
SHERPA JACKET | PRINTED LEGGINGS
This sherpa teddy bomber! I’m in love. I had seen this coat on a few other girls over the past year and thought it was cute but never thought much of it… till I saw it In person and put it on—instantly love. It’s so thick and cozy, the sleeves are long and the hood is huge. This was an instant yes for me and I’m going to be showing you a different way to style in a coming post. I’m wearing a size large in this photo which was huge but had the SA bring me a medium which was the size I purchased (and still can fit a long sleeve underneath).
These leggings were on my wish list post I shared and they are really comfortable, have a great high waist and feel good on. They fit tts and I went with a medium but, I didn’t love the fact that the colour fads when you stretch them out (ie. bend over or pull them up)—know what I mean? When the fabric spreads, you lose the colour.
This knit set is so cute! I hadn’t seen this before I went to the store and love this paired with booties, OTK boots, sneakers or even tights with a pair of pumps for the office. It’s super budget friendly at under $40 per piece and the knit is thick and warm.
I’m wearing an XL in the sweater but ended up purchasing a large—which is roomy but not crazy over-sized (I found the XL to be too big in the shoulders and up top but the large was just right but not snug). The skirt is a large and has a thick, stretchy elastic waistband.
This square neck sleeveless sweater (as they call it on the website) is so good. It comes in a blush pink as well, but olive green is so much more flattering on my fair skin. This top is pretty cropped, so great with a high waist skirt or denim but wouldn’t work with anything low rise.
Overall a quality basic that would be great on it’s own or under a cardigan or blazer. Lastly, it’s a tight ribbed fabric so stretches out a lot–size down (I’m wearing a large and should have tried a small).
This sweater is super cozy and just a great basic for any closet–comes in a couple other colours (cream being one of them), which is great if you prefer neutrals. I’m wearing a large because I wanted a more over-sized fit, but would say it runs pretty tts. A great staple for any closet if you don’t have something like this.
SWEATSHIRTS WITH SLITS | FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS
This sweatshirt was another item on my wish list post and it’s so good. It’s a full length, thick but soft fabric and really good quality. I love the little slits on the side and it’s just a cozy piece that isn’t tight at the waistband. I’m wearing a medium.
CARDIGAN | LACE TRIM TANK | KNIT SKIRT
This cardigan was on my wish list post as well and comes in so many great colours (grey, burgundy, cream, blush pink). I love the fact that it’s long and goes past my knees, which looks great if you have a skirt or dress with a shorter hemline—I find this is a great trick for office outfits that might be a tad on the short side but also very stylish with denim as well. The fabric is ribbed all over which makes it drape nicely and I’m wearing a medium.
The lace trim cami is one I already have in my closet in both black and cream and love. I have several chiffon/satin style camis that are great for layering, and I find myself always grabbing this one first of all of them. Bonus it’s under $25 which makes it super budget friendly and looks way more expensive than it is. I wear a medium.
CASHMERE SWEATER | CROPPED FLARES
This cashmere sweater is absolutely gorgeous but they only had extra small and XL left in store—so I’m wearing the XL, which is a little too over-sized (large probably would have been good). I am actually eyeing this one more, the colour and neckline are just that much more flattering on me.
JACKET | LONG SWEATER | FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS
Finally, one of my absolute favourite pieces I snagged in store, this incredible olive green rain coat! I actually wanted the printed (camo/star) version of this coat but my store only had the olive green—which I still love so much. This is longer than any fall/in-between seasons coat I have, which I like, and it has a hood. The fabric is waterproof and has a great waist cinch detail and a flap at the back that snaps shut. I’m wearing a medium.
You can find my shoes here (on sale!) & my necklace here (this one is similar and part of the sale).
