TRY-ON TUESDAY

Hello hello! Happy Tuesday! Jumping for a little try-on, it’s been a while & I’ve accumulated a few new things that are worth sharing.

How’s the weather where you are? We are in full on fall-mode here, but still getting some sunny and warm-ish days where a bare leg or lightweight jacket is enough. Love this time of year!

Today I’m sharing a bunch of faux leather pieces & trendy items that are all V budget friendly. As always, I’m sharing everything in real time on Insta Stories so if you haven’t been there yet, head over to see how things fit and move in video.

Let’s jump in…

F21 CROPPED SWEATER — OLD (SIMILAR) | FAUX LEATHER SKIRT (ALSO COMES IN BLACK & OLIVE) | ALDO BOOTS — OLD (SIMILAR, LOVE THESE) | LONG CARDIGAN

The skirt is the new piece here and I’m loving any and everything high waisted (and have been for sometime now). This faux lather skirt is no exception and I actually ordered it in the gorgeous light olive colour as well and am waiting it’s arrival.

I would say it fits true to size (tts) and am wearing a size 8. It comes above the belly button and to mid-thigh. The seaming detail down the front is super flattering and there is a zipper up the middle in the back. Love this!

To dress this skirt down, try pairing with a combat boot and tights with a cozy turtleneck or some sneakers and a sweatshirt tucked into the front.

OPEN BACK SWEATER | FLARED FAUX LEATHER PANTS | BOOHOO HEELS — OLD (SIMILAR, LOVE THESE)

These pants!! Being tall (5’11 for ref), it’s so rare to find flared pants that are long enough, but these hit the mark. These totally remind me of a pair of faux leather flared pants I had in high school (ah!) but updated to feel current.

They are high waisted with a side zipper and no pockets. They come just above the belly button on me and feel so good. They have zippers at the bottom on the inside of the ankle so you can achieve a bootcut or straight leg look depending if they are unzipped or not. Love this feature. I went with the large; the medium fit but were just so tight, plus not quite as long.

I shared this open back sweater recently and really love how versatile it is–this time I tied it in the front for a slightly different look. It’s truly a party-in-the-back kind of sweater but would worked if you paired a button-down or cami underneath to make it office appropriate. I’m wearing a size medium.

SHOULDER PAD TOP (ALMOST IDENTICAL, SIMILAR, LOVE THIS & TONS OF BUDGT FRIENDLY OPTIONS HERE) | H&M PAPER BAG FAUX LEATHER PANTS — SOLD OUT (SIMILAR, SIMILAR, LOVE THESE) | BOOHOO HEELS — OLD (SIMILAR, LOVE THESE)

Another pair of faux leather pants in a more forgiving silhouette. A paper bag pant/waistline can be a very forgiving style, especially if you hold your weight in the middle. Worn high enough, in the smallest part of your waistline, it can give the illusion of a smaller waist (raising my hand here 😉 ). Plus, the looser fit through the leg is great for pear-shaped girls. I’m wearing a size 8.

Shoulder pad tops are all the rage right now, if you’re going to snag any kind of top this year, this is definitely going to add a really current feel to your wardrobe. Mine is from Zara and has the elastic waistband at the bottom, plus it’s cropped. If I were to purchase again, I’d probably go with a non-cropped version for a little more versatility. Linking a ton of budget friendly options here.

SHERPA JACKET | URBAN PLANET SWEATER — OLD (SIMILAR) | FRONT SLIT SKIRT | GOLDEN GOOSE SNEAKERS — OLD (SIMILAR, BUDGET FRIENDLY)

I love love love the 90’s vibe of this skirt–I totally remember wearing skirts like this with a little slit in the front, way back in the day. This one is thick and has an almost denim feel (but is thick cotton) and runs big. Sadly I went with my true size (8) and need to get it taken in. It’s not worth it to pay to ship it back, and I can see myself wearing this a ton next spring so getting it tailored will be worth it. If you’re buying though, size down.

This sherpa jacket is a go-to for me! I wear it weekly, especially this time of year. I bought it last year and they’ve brought it back this year in a ton of colours. I have worn this so much on walks with Hendrix in the spring and fall, to run errands, and can be dressed up a little or worn with athleisure or denim. I’m wearing a medium.

LONG CARDIGAN | ZARA TANK — OLD (SIMILAR) | FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS | GOLDEN GOOSE SNEAKERS — OLD (SIMILAR, BUDGET FRIENDLY)

This cardigan is new and exactly what I didn’t have in my closet. I have a tan version of this from a couple years back (it’s literally identical) but grey is definitely a go-to colour for me. I love the length of this as it hits mid-calf and has pockets in the front. I went with a medium but think I’ll exchange for a small, as it does run quite big.

The leggings aren’t new but I always get questions if they are worth the price–they are. It took me a couple years to jump on this band wagon, but there is a reason they are a favourite and loved by many. I got mine last year when I was pregnant and when with an XL, and still love that for size. I usually wear a medium in Spanx, which would really suck me in, a large would be a great fit and then the XL is very comfortable. Despite being a little big on me now postpartum, they never slide down. Totally recommend.
