NEW YEARS EVE AT HOME

It’s almost New Year’s Eve, which usually means parties, shiny outfits and ringing in the new year with a bang.  However, it can also be just as special cozy at home on the couch, with a little prosecco thrown in for good measure.  As a homebody, I’m always up for staying in and can be easily convinced to do so!

This year we have been invited to our friend’s place for a housewarming-NYE party, but if you’re planning on staying in, and want to make it extra special, I wanted to share exactly how I would do that today.

My skirt is from a few years back, but I wanted something sparkly that didn’t take away from the mesh top.  I’ve rounded up a few similar favourites below:

O U T F I T  D E T A I L S  :  POLKA DOT MESH TOP  |  CAMI  |  PENDANT NECKLACE (SIMILAR WITH BLANK PENDANT)  |  GOLD VINTAGE CLUTCH  |  VERO MODA SKIRT — OLD (SIMILAR, LOVE THIS)  |  OVER THE KNEE BOOTS

D E C O R  D E T A I L S  :  WINNERS BANNER (SIMILAR, MADE ME LOL)  |  LOBLAWS GOLD TRAY (SIMILAR)  |  HOME OUTFITTERS GOLD CANDLE HOLDERS (SIMILAR)  |  CRYSTAL CANDLE HOLDERS (SIMILAR)  |  CHAMPAGNE FLUTES (LOVE THESE)  |  BAR STOOLS  |  HOME SENSE NAPKINS (SIMILAR)

Mesh is such a hot trend right now for tops and I was dying to style this polka dot top for a night out (or in 😉 ).  I was originally planning to wear this mesh star top, but it felt too much with the metallic stripes in the skirt; if your skirt was a solid colour, I would definitely advocate for the stars!

Since it’s cold AF here, over the knee boots are a must if you’re heading out for NYE for added warmth, but equally as cute at home especially since we’re baring a lot of skin with the shorter hemline and the mesh top.  The balance of covering up the legs creates a more chic look that is still party-ready.

And finally, if you’re hosting at home, it doesn’t take much–a sparkly banner, a few bottles of champagne and some candles to set the mood.  If you’re having friends over, it’s always fun to grab a few fun photobooth props and set them on a table beside a blank wall (or hang this budget-friendly backdrop) for fun photo ops throughout the night.  Throw on some great music (this is my current fave playlist for hosting) and you’re ready for the countdown!

Hope you girls have a safe and happy New Years!
