THE WEEK ROUND UP

Hey girls—happy Friday!  The weekend is here and I’m kicking it off with a new series for the blog that will incorporate more lifestyle where I share things that happened that week, questions I answer from Instastories, new things happening in my life or really just anything that comes to mind.  I thought it might be a nice way to get more real with you aside from just the Weekend Recaps.

So, without further adieu, let’s jump in to the first edition!

I’ve got my mind on boots for fall & have these in my cart (love the wide opening).  I’m sharing 6 black booties I’m loving under $200 below in the widget.

One evening this week, I got to my car after work and my girl friend called me to see what I was up to. To be honest, I was exhausted and socially drained, had even told myself I would skip the gym and just go home.  She wanted to meet up and while I wanted to see her, I was so tired.  In spur of the moment fashion, I decided to just meet up with her and we ended up grabbing dinner and have the best time!  We chatted about work and life, the wedding and more.  Afterwards, I felt so energized I even made it to the gym after all.  It was a good reminder to push my (introverted) self for social events because I always walk away with a full heart and great memories.

In the gym, leg/booty day is one of my favourites but also one of the hardest (ugh!).  I love doing cable kick-backs but my gym location doesn’t have the ankle straps.  I finally pulled the trigger on my own and purchased one of these.  It just arrived and the quality is amazing.

About a month ago, I started taking collagen peptides (Canadians can find a better deal here–loved this site, my order came in two days and no duty charge) as part of my skincare routine. They say it takes up to two months to notice a difference, but I’m actually seeing a positive change in my skin as it seems smoother and (I hope I’m not jinxing this!) I haven’t had a breakout since!  Normally my chin is such a problem area, but it’s been so clear it’s actually shocking.  Maybe after the wedding I’ll do a full post on collagen peptides if it would interest you girls.

Back when Marco and I started dating, he suggested I read The 5 Love Languages; a book that depicts how you give and like to receive love.  Over the years, it has been an incredible source for understanding each other and also friendships with other people.  In short, oftentimes, partners don’t have the same love language and so they give love as they like to receive it which doesn’t necessarily make the other person feel as loved as if they were receiving it in their preferred “language” (the languages are touch, quality time, gifts, acts of service and words). Since starting my new job, I find myself trying to determine what others language might be (mine is touch, then words), and even introduced my supervisor to it (she turned out to be the language I was predicting!).  If you can determine your love language and your partners (or friends, colleagues, etc.), it will help you navigate the relationship and have a better understanding of them as a whole; why they do things a certain way, how you can show them you care, etc.  It’s a really neat tool and you can take the free quiz here.

And finally, I’m going to do a full post rounding up some budget-friendly, on-trend coats next week, but in the meantime, I just ordered this fun fur style that’s under $60.

Hope you girls have a great weekend! xo
