HOSTING A SCARY MOVIE NIGHT

Thank you Decoy for sponsoring this post. Celebrate International Merlot Month this October by using the hashtag #MerlotMe on social!

Fall is officially here and what better way to embrace the crisp weather and festive season than with a scary movie night?!  We love hosting friends over here, as you girls have seen, and take any opportunity to bring people together.

That said, I’m excited to share with you a couple easy tips and tricks to bring your horror film fright fest to life, so let’s jump in!

First stop for any party is for wine, so when Decoy asked if I wanted to partner on this post, it was a no brainer.  California is always the region I’m drawn to, for reds especially, and I love this hearty merlot from the vintages section.  Instead of doing the usual cheese board, I kept the snacks easy and on theme for a movie night: chips and popcorn (with plenty more in the cupboard for refills).  Then I snagged a cute jack-o-lantern to fill with mini chocolate bars for the sweet lovers.

As for the theme, at first I was thinking cute and cozy, but after some more thought I decided to go spooky instead.  I incorporated some fun Halloween decor (those ‘chip holders’ are actually lanterns for candles!), purchased the gold skull napkins, loaded the couch with some new, cozy pillows and blankets and pulled out multiple bottles of Merlot.  When guests arrive, I always have a glass of wine ready to hand them as I take their coat, I find this instantly sets the mood, relaxes them and is a great touch to make them feel welcome.  Once everyone has arrived, and Merlot is in hand, we head to the couch and then comes the debate for which scary movie we’re going to watch!  I recently watched The Purge and it’s still haunting me!

Did you girls know that October is International Merlot month?  It’s a global industry event celebrating Merlot all month long and over 100 Merlot producers from around the world participate. There’s a fun hashtag (#MerlotMe) you can use if you’re participating in any way, yes, even just getting some Merlot in your glass! The best part about #MerlotMe is finding something new to try, or finding others who love the same Merlot as you.

I hope you girls enjoyed this post & you need to let me know if you end up hosting your own scary movie night too!  See you tomorrow xo
