COLOUR BLOCKED COAT

Winter dressing is not always easy around these parts but thankfully long coats, long skirts and booties are all making rounds in the style category.

This coat is one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe, gets tons of compliments and is under $70!  Every time I wear it, someone asks where it’s from and always think it’s way more expensive than it actually is.  I am wearing a size large (I typically size up on their site) and its a good fit through the shoulders and roomy in the body, so a medium may have been okay as well.

O U T F I T  D E T A I L S  :  COLOUR BLOCKED COAT  |  LONG SLEEVE TOP  |  RIBBED MIDI SKIRT (AS SEEN HERE, ALMOST IDENTICAL)  |  BOOTS — OLD (SIMILAR)  |  BAG  |  SUNGLASSES

I would wear this outfit out to dinner with friends, if I needed something a little more elevated than jeans and a cute top, and also to the office.  Swap out the booties for heels (unless you can wear the booties, then I’m all for it), and you’re ready for your 9-to-5.

Also, the ribbed skirt is the one I shared in the 8 Things I Bought at Zara post a few weeks back–unfortunately it’s sold out now, but this one is very similar and this one too with the super slit..  I’m loving knit-style midi skirts this year, they are so chic!  I think my biggest tip would be to size down, though.  Since the fabric is quite stretchy, it can come off a little bulky so you want to ensure it’s really snug to avoid that.  I’m wearing a small and am usually a medium-large in Zara bottoms; I even feel I could have gone with the extra small.

How is your week going?  Things are good over here, my best friend and I had our annual Christmas gift exchange the other night, which was a hoot.  She’s the best gift giver and I pale in comparison, but she seemed to like what I got her and she, of course, killed it with my gifts–per usual!  She got me several items but highlights include a gorgeous commissioned fashion drawing of us, a new Essie polish and these Lululemon leggings in olive (love!).  As an aside, I’m currently loving the luxtreme fabric (whereas before I was all about the luon).  Then last night, I got together with another girlfriend who cooked us a killer dinner–I’m being spoiled this week!

I hope you all are having a good one, I’m working heavily on a bunch of wedding posts that will be coming your way soon!
