CHRISTMAS BRUNCH WITH FRIENDS

For the past couple years, we have hosted a Christmas brunch with friends (see 2018 here and apparently I didn’t document 2017…), which is always a fun way to kick off the season and see everyone before diving into family festivities.

This year, while I loved the idea of it and seeing our friends, I was a little more reluctant, being 35 weeks pregnant. Guys, I’m tired.

However, with a little convincing on Marco’s part, I was sold—and so happy we went for it in the end. I’d love to share some photos of the day if you’d like to see…

Marco is definitely the head chef when it comes to hosting, and he whipped up his smoked salmon eggs Benedict, crowd-pleasing SF garlic homefries & I did a salad on the side. He even came up with a fun Christmas Mule cocktail that everyone was loving, topped with rosemary and frozen cranberries.

For other drinks, we did a little mimosa station and I brewed a big pot of coffee and made a little bar area for that with mugs, sugar, creams, etc.

For the table, I kept it pretty simple: a long burlap runner that I made a couple years ago, everyday placemats that I dressed up with some blush fabric napkins & reindeer napkin rings. I wanted the theme to be lots of greenery and gold, and Marco came home with some fresh pine and balsm branches from the grocery store, that I used around some of the candle holders (similar to these). I threw in a couple metallic reindeer figureens (similar to these; that aren’t too tall so as to not block anyone’s vision/conversation across the table) & we finished it off by putting a bag of chocolates at each place setting as little guest favours.

After breakfast, we enjoyed an amazing mousse cake our friend brought and hung out in the living room. Marco had put up our tree but it was only started on decor (truly we ran out of time and TBH, decorating a tree this year is not my idea of a good time! Ha!) so a couple of the girls jumped in and started pulling ornaments out of boxes and getting the tree done. It was so nice to sit and watch versus the usual running around of hosting, simply because my physicality level is wayyyyy down currently. Having friends help just was the cherry on top of a wonderful afternoon.

Happy holiday season!! xo
