I told you girls I’d be back with another post this weekend 😉 I did a little try-on haul from H&M on Stories today (I’ll save it to my highlight, in case you missed it) and thought I would share a little recap of everything I purchased, how it fits, what I’m keeping & what’s going back.
As you know, I’m trying to keep it somewhat budget over here with #acomspwedding happening in four and a half months, but it’s so hard with summer finally here and all the cute, new pieces in stores! I placed an online order last weekend, mainly in an attempt to up my office wardrobe a little, and ended up finding pieces that will work for weekday and weekend. So let’s jump in!
I saw this tee and immediately envisioned it working for the office with a pencil skirt and then on the weekend with high waisted girlfriend jeans. I sized down to a small so it would be snug across the waist and you can wear it on or off the shoulder. It’s a stretchy cotton, very comfortable and regular length, plus it’s only $15!
This zipper front denim skirt basically sparked this entire order–it’s so nice! The denim is thick and doesn’t stretch, so it’s definitely snug fitting. I’m wearing a size 8 but wondering if a 10 would be better; but I do feel like a 10 would be too big in the hips and leg areas. I loved the raw hem and that you can also open the zipper from the bottom if you wanted to.
I saw this dress and loved the print. The style is very similar to this dress I have, which I’ve worn to the office, and was hoping I could do the same with this one. That said, I think it’s a tad on the short side, but I’m so in love with the style, print and fit I want to keep it. I really love it belted for date night. The v in the front has a hook & eye, so you can claps it to create a keyhole effect. I’m wearing a size 10.
So in love with these jeans! I was looking for some non-designer, high waist, medium wash jeans and these came through. You girls know I will splurge when I find a good pair of jeans, but I wasn’t quite ready to drop a big chunk of change yet.
These have washed up amazing, and I put them in the dryer to bring them back to size after wearing them–they stretch out a little, but not in a bad way. They have a good stretch to them and I love the distressing on the back of the ankles. I’m wearing my usual size, 30.
I’ve already shared these pants in an outfit post, but I wanted to share them here again because they just got marked down to half price! This style is so trendy this year, it’s a great budget-friendly way to jump onboard. I’m wearing a size 10 and thinking I could have gone with an 8.
The model is wearing this exact outfit on the website and when I saw it, I had to have the whole thing; so pretty! You can wear the top tucked in or untucked–both ways look so good. Would be an amazing wedding guest outfit too.
The peplum cami is really pretty, I don’t have anything like this and love that it cinches the waist to give some shape. This would be great with a higher waisted denim, especially if you’re looking to camouflage a tummy. I’m wearing a size 8 and because the straps are adjustable, it’s the perfect fit.
This skirt is gorgeous and comfortable, very stretchy and I love that the lace goes beyond the lining. That said, it’s also a tad big on me in the size 10 and I don’t feel held in. I prefer skirts that have some structure or thickness to kind of suck you in, and this is more like a comfortable pair of leggings. I think it’s all in what you prefer, I wish this was more structured, but I know a lot of girls would prefer how comfortable this is too–totally personal preference!
UPDATE: Looks like my exact skirt is out of stock, but this one is almost identical but perhaps a little more structured as it has a zipper in the back.
Oh. Em. Gee. These jeans, you guys! I didn’t have high hopes for these, but seriously am blown away. These were on sale for $15 and I’ve been on the hunt for a new pair of non-distressed white skinnies–I can’t believe it! These are stretchy and kind of thick, they feel amazing and look great. The pockets on the back are a great size and I love the four-button fly.
I will note that you could see my top tucked into them, but I’m wearing nude underwear and you cannot see it at all. There are no front pockets (sewn shut) and they are high waisted. I’m wearing my usual size, 30. You need to get these!
I so wanted to love this skirt, but sadly it was too big; I’m wearing a medium. I was looking for a plain, longer, jersey skirt that I could wear under this dress (which is too short on it’s own), and I thought this would be it.
Unfortunately this will be going back and I’ll perhaps try the small or even extra small. The length is great, there is a slit in the back and the waist band is a narrow elastic–don’t love that element, but for $19, I can look past it.
This denim skirt is from last year but I had to include it because H&M brought it back this year! It looks just like the more expensive ones but is under $40. It’s a stiff, thick denim, high waisted and I went with a size 8. There definitely isn’t any stretch, so keep that in mind for your sizing, it’s quite stiff.
I love these jeans! I have a full outfit post coming with these, but you’ve also seen them in this post with an off shoulder top. I was looking for a pair of girlfriend-style jeans that was flattering and tried on what felt like a hundred different pairs. I ended up pulling the trigger on these and haven’t looked back. I find myself constantly reaching for these as they are roomy and comfortable, plus the distressing is perfect.
I chopped the hems off myself because I wanted them to be cropped and a raw hem, and they wash up amazing. I went up a size to a 31, and they are a little roomier everywhere (including the waist), which is the look I was going for. Bonus, they are now on sale!
This blouse is perfect for the office and I love it! My only qualm is it doesn’t come in every colour of the rainbow, because I would buy it.
The fit is fantastic, I’m wearing a medium, and it’s long enough that you can tuck into a pair of pants. Perfect for the office or an event with family, the boatneck is super flattering and I love the tiered bell sleeves. A great piece for year round and also comes in orange, white with small black polka dots & a floral print.
This might be my fave item of the entire haul–I love this mini skirt! The distressing is so good and it’s only $34! It reminds me of this Citizens of Humanity skirt for a fraction of the price. The denim is stiff and there isn’t really any stretch, it’s high waisted and I’m wearing a size 8.
