We went to check out Mountain Orchard, a local apple orchard just south of the city. This place is huge and has so much more than just apple picking. It was pretty busy when we went, so we just stuck to our picking and picture taking 😛 and then had to rush back home for nap time.
That said, there is a store, BBQ (on weekends), bakery, hay bails to climb, corn maze, and normally there is a wagon ride (not this year with COVID), to take you out to the fields. If you’re local, bring the stroller, as it’s a bit of a trek to get to the fields on foot, but note that it’s also pretty rough and bumpy terrain so our stroller wasn’t ideal (a jogger would be, though). I also brought the ring sling, as I tend to keep it in the car if we leave the house, and it came in really handy to carry Hendrix when he got tired of the stroller.
As for what to wear to pick apples, go with some comfortable footwear that you can walk a good distance in, and style your outfit around that. I feel like I live in leggings since being home with Hendrix all day, but the faux leather kind adds a little something to the ‘fit. I love the look of a longer cardigan (or coat) with sneakers and a hat, it’s almost a juxtaposition of something you wouldn’t expect, but feels very current. Another great option would be some straight leg denim, ankle boots with a chunky heel & a cozy sweater.
