Hello hello! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is upon us and I’ve shopped and shared the sale for the last five years. I feel like last year was a bit of a bust, but this year I’m seeing a few more things worth checking out!
Today I’m breaking down when the sale is taking place (for Canadians and Americans; because dates are different!), all the deets to get early access and more info about the sale in general. It really is one of the best sales of the year, so read on if you’re interested in learning more.
SIMILAR COAT/SAME BRAND — ON SALE! (SIMILAR)
FOR CANADIANS
This year, Nordstrom is doing something great for Canadians–you don’t need to get their credit card to shop early, you simply need to sign up for a free Nordy Member account. The perks are that you earn points per dollar spent, which later turn into gift cards. It’s really a win-win, plus you can shop the sale three days before non-members!
- July 19: Preview the sale online
- July 25: Early Access for Nordy Members (free to join)
- July 28: Anniversary Sale opens to the general public
- August 9: All merchandise sale items go back up to full price
As you can see, for Canadians, we kind of get the shaft when it comes to the sale. I will be breaking down the Canadian preview in a different post, once it opens up online to us on July 19th. For now, you can browse the American site to get an idea of what might be offered to us 🙂
FOR AMERICANS
If you are in the USA, you need to have Icon, Ambassador or Influencer status or the Nordstrom credit card to get early access to shop the sale before the public. I’m outlining the dates below:
- July 6: Preview the sale online
- July 12: Early Access for cardmembers with Icon status
- July 14: Early Access for cardmembers with Ambassador status
- July 16: Early Access for cardmembers with Influencer status
- July 28: Anniversary Sale opens to the general public
- August 9: All merchandise sale items go back up to full price
As for the credit card, I got one four years ago and have enjoyed going in advance, when the merchandise is fully stocked and the stores aren’t as busy–but, I also don’t use this card for anything else. Is it really worth getting a credit card for this sale? Meh. I’m not going to sit here and say you need to get this credit card to shop the sale, if you’re in the market for one, it’s an option to consider, and if you’re not, that’s okay too.
SPANX LEGGINGS — ON SALE!
Prior to last year (hello pandemic), I’ve always gone to Nordstrom and done a huge try-on for you girls in the fitting room (see them here from 2019, 2018, 2017 & 2016), plus outfit posts, videos, IG Stories and more. Last year I shared my picks here.
This year, like last year, I’m parring it down because (1) we have a busy toddler (2) I’m back to work, and (3) I kind of feel like the sale is a little overkill at times. With everyone and their mother pushing every. last. item. it’s not always the most appealing thing to be following… but there are some good deals to be had. So, like the last couple years, I’m planning to purchase things I truly love and will wear for years to come.
Reminder: Each store is different and will carry different inventory, but online has it all.

What will be on sale?
Thousands of items ranging from women’s clothing, men’s clothing, children’s clothing, beauty, shoes, and more.
Do items get restocked during the sale?
Sometimes, but not always. I’ve seen things sell out on the first day, and not be restocked, and other times they are. A couple years ago, I was eyeing an All Saints leather jacket and planning to purchase the day Early Access opened, but because I went into the store instead of purchasing online, it sold out, and was never re-stocked. Ugh! That said, do sign in online (free), and favourite your items and keep an eye because people do make returns and sometimes you can score something that way!
Is there a promo code?
No, and all items in the sale will be highlighted under a special page on the site where you will see the sale price and what the original price will be once the sale is over.

What kind of posts will you be doing?
I will be sharing a curated list of items I’m eyeing + items I would purchase if I didn’t already have something similar in my closet. I’ll also do a try-on if I purchase anything that works 🙂 Not going overboard this year or hyping anything that I don’t feel is worth the hype.

What types of items will you be buying?
My go-to’s when shopping the sale tend to be designer denim, anything Free People, investment pieces, affordable basics, activewear, boots & coats.
Is what you see in the online preview, what will be on sale?
Yes, but likely more as well. The preview is just a portion of all the items that are new and on sale, and if it’s anything like year’s past, new items tend to be added as days go on, during the sale. I’m excited to see what else they have in store for us!
