The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale early access opened in Canada yesterday, and as promised I’m sharing a huuuuuge fitting room try on.
If you’re unfamiliar with the sale, it’s all brand new fall merchandise that is brought out to the floor for the first time, up to 40% off for three weeks. Everything gets restocked and goes back up to full price on August 6th. It’s truly like Christmas in July, so if you are eyeing a few new things for fall, now is the time to get it. Early access is for Nordstrom card holders, and I go through all the details in this post. If you’re not a card holder, that’s okay, and you can shop the sale starting this Friday!
My Nordstrom didn’t have a bunch of the items I had been eyeing, and at first glance I wasn’t sure I was going to find much… um. Wrong. lol. While I didn’t purchase everything I tried on, I still found a lot and found myself really debating which pieces to bring home with me because I loved way more than my budget did! 😉
Let’s jump into the try on…

Before we get started, you can read about my sizing and measurements here, in case it’s helpful. Also, these are the shoes I’m wearing (not part of the sale) but these ones are part of the sale & very similar.
I had high hopes for the jeans above but sadly they didn’t have my size. I find Frame denim runs a tad big/has a lot of stretch, so you’re usually safe to go down a size. I’m typically a 30 in denim, but in Frame I wear 29. Unfortunately, my store didn’t have a 29 so I’m wearing a size 30 and they are too big. TBH it’s probably a good thing because I definitely would have purchased them had they been in my size! They are high waisted, a slightly thicker, but still stretchy denim and I love the wash and the slant pockets. If you’re looking to give a bit of shape to your lower half, slanted pockets are your best friend.
The sweater is lightweight, slightly cropped (works well with the high waisted denim) and comes in several colours. The surplice (cross-over) part of it is very flowy so you would either need to wear a cami underneath or use some double sided tape to keep it in place. I’m wearing a medium and it fits true to size (tts).

CALSON SHEARLING JACKET | BP LACE CAMI | RAG & BONE BLACK JEANS
This teddy coat is soooo soft and super cute, and also lightweight. It doesn’t feel bulky and would be perfect for fall weather. The inside is lined but again, it’s not a thick coat. I’m wearing a medium and could easily fit a thick-knit sweater underneath, so depending on what you plan to pair it with, you may be able to go down a size.
HALOGEN BELL SLEEVE SWEATER | CITIZENS OF HUMANITY JEANS
This ribbed cashmere sweater is so cozy and soft. It’s slightly on the shorter side, so again pairs well with something high-waisted, and I tried both the small and medium. I liked the way the small fit in the body, slightly slimmer but not tight, however the sleeves were longer and better with the medium (wearing above)
For some reason, these Citizens of Humanity jeans aren’t on the Nordstrom site as part of the sale, but they were very clearly part of the sale in my store. I’m linking to the ones that are on sale above, but apologies, I wouldn’t have worn them with so many pieces in the fitting room had I known. Also wanted to note that I always size up in Citizens, so all the pairs I’m wearing in this post are a size 31.
This dress is uber sexy and is kind of a slinky, poly-blend fabric that is double thickness. It’s a racerback style, so a strapless bra is ideal and I love that it hits just below the knee. It’s not necessarily going to suck you in, but it definitely hugs your curves. I’m wearing a medium, which looks fine, but the small actually was a better fit and felt more ‘secure’, it you will.
VINCE TURTLENECK | BLANK NYC SUEDE SKIRT
OMG so in love with this entire outfit! This suede skirt is so stunning in person and it’s a thick mini that hugs the butt and is a little longer in the back. It also comes in grey but I have been wanting a tan colour suede or leather skirt for a while now, plus find it more flattering on my fair toned skin. I went down a size to a 29.
The turtleneck is really beautiful, and paper thin. It would make a great layering piece under blazers, jackets, sweaters, vests but is also so stunning on it’s own. I love how the turtleneck doesn’t fold down but is slightly ruched, it’s very chic. The sleeves are extra long which just gives it a really mod feeling, which I really like. I’m wearing a size medium and the fit is nice in the shoulders and arms, but a small would have been a slimmer fit through the torso, which I prefer.
AVEC LES FILLES OVERSIZED FAUX SHEARLING JACKET | RAG & BONE BLACK JEANS
I came out of the fitting room in this one and the sales girls gasped. This is definitely the type of jacket that doesn’t say much on a hanger, but when you put it on, it looks really cool and edgy. I was a little worried it would make me look bigger, but it’s actually quite flattering. I’m wearing a size medium which fits great and could easily accommodate a chunky sweater underneath, but when zipped up, it was the right fit around the hips so I wouldn’t size down.
SOCIALITE DRESS — ALSO IN GREY
This knot-front dress is super cute and made of cotton t-shirt material. The sleeves are a little bit longer for a tee, which I liked and the bottom of the skirt is an actual wrap. The knot can make the dress tighter or looser, depending on how you like it. I’m wearing a size small, which was a great size but unfortunately being tall, the length of the dress was just too short on me. If you’re shorter, this would be so cute with sneakers or sandals now, and boots and booties come fall.
MADEWELL SCARF | LEITH BELL SLEEVE SWEATER | CITIZENS OF HUMANITY JEANS
Totally obsessed with this bell sleeve sweater, it’s so cozy but also a chic sweater as well (I will totally be wearing this for date nights come fall and winter). I debated between a medium and large (you can see the large below with the suede skirt) and went with medium in the end as I just found it to be slightly more flattering with the slimmer fit.
Such a cozy scarf! This one is huge and oversized and super soft. It’s a full square so you can fold it in half into a triangle to get the shape of how I’m wearing it (tuck the ends under).
BP LONG SLEEVE TEE | FRAME JEANS
These long sleeve tees are a great closet basic, I have something really similar I wear almost daily when I get home from work and change into leggings 😉 This one comes in a bunch of colours and is easy to throw on and go with jeans or sweats, or even tucked into some denim shorts. I’m wearing a size large for an oversized fit.
I really liked these olive green Frame pants, they are a perfect take on a coloured skinny and something you could easily wear as a neutral (I have a distressed pair as seen here), but something a little different for your closet! I’m wearing a size 29 (sized down) which is a snug but comfortable fit. These have a ton of stretch.
CALSON TWIST FRONT LONG SLEEVE TEE | RAG & BONE BLACK JEANS
This long sleeve is really cute, and comes in 5 colours (including stripes!). It’s long in the body, so you can pair with your regular rise jeans but I also think it would be super cute with workout gear and as a piece to wear to and from the gym. I’m wearing a medium.
DEREK LAM JACKET | BP TEE | RAG & BONE BLACK JEANS | AG DISTRESSED JEANS

This jacket is giving me alllll the heart eyes! You guys!!
I almost didn’t want to take this jacket in with me for fear of loving it–and guess what?! UGH, I love it! I had my heart set on last year’s version of this jacket which came in a muddy green but it sold out, my store didn’t carry it and I grabbed this Sam Edelman one instead (which you know I’ve worn to death). This year, when I saw this tan anorak with the fur, it was love at first sight.
This jacket is a three in one; there is a soft tan fur (fur like a blanket) vest within the jacket, that is totally removable, but also stays in place when you wear them together with some tabs and snaps. The fur is real, and also removable, and sits atop a huge collar. The best part is there is a hood underneath the collar (which my Sam Edelman one doesn’t have and has been a slight bummer in the past) which is great when you’re out and it starts to rain or gets cooler. There are draw strings at the waist, at the bottom-back part of the jacket and along the collar. I’m wearing a medium which felt good but I feel like I can put a bunch of layers underneath it as well. I almost opted for a small, but then the sleeves would be too short and I want to be able to put a thick sweater underneath.
Overall, just totally obsessed with this jacket and all the options to wear it. Plus it’s $200 off!
BLANK NYC SUEDE JACKET | BP LACE CAMI | RAG & BONE BLACK JEANS
The Blank NYC suede moto jacket is back for another year, with several updates and a new colour palette. This year it comes in a dark olive (as I’m wearing), and also a rusty red colour. They’ve removed the collar and used gunmetal for the zippers, which is a cool element. I’m wearing a medium and for the first time in three years, this jacket is running a little big.
I own this jacket from two years ago in two colours and both are size medium (as seen: tan version here, plum version here), and have gotten so much use and wear out of them. This year however, I’m less than thrilled with this version TBH. The colour wowed me, but the fit lacked the body-hugging of years past and the suede is a little more stiff and thick. It’s pretty but it’s a pass for me.
I always love a good jumpsuit, the problem is they don’t tend to work on me, being tall. They are never quite long enough in the body, which is unfortunate because I love when girls wear them and think they look so chic! I’m wearing a size large in this one, and it fit but I think medium would be better, if it had been long enough in the body.
CALSON PULLOVER SWEATER | CITIZENS OF HUMANITY JEANS
This sweater is getting a lot of hype, and comes in five other colours (including a bright yellow), but for me it was just meh. I sized up to a large for an oversized, off shoulder fit, which was cute, but just not my fave sweater. The fabric is kind of a cotton terry knit material.
Another pair of Citizens jeans that aren’t on sale on the website–what the heck!? I’m linking them directly anyways, in case you like them, but sorry they aren’t on sale. It’s so weird because I grabbed them off the sale table at the store, so not sure what’s up.
LEITH BELL SLEEVE SWEATER | BLANK NYC SUEDE SKIRT
Love love love! Everything about this look is speaking to me.
This is the large in the bell sleeve sweater I’m wearing with the blanket scarf above. The large is definitely oversized and helps if you want to wear it off the shoulder. It’s also a little longer in the body, if you prefer that.
Again, the skirt is amazing and I love how it hugs the bum and is a little longer in the back. I sized down to a 29 and fits on my natural waist/just below my belly button.
TREASURE & BOND CARDIGAN | BP TEE | RAG & BONE JEANS
This cardigan is so thick and cozy and comes in a bunch of different colours. It’s really great for just throwing on with jeans and a tee, like here, or if you’re on the couch in leggings and need an extra layer. I always throw on the thicker, soft cardigans I have like this when we are watching movies.
This short sleeved tee is a great basic for your closet. The fabric is more sheer this year than in year’s past and I wasn’t crazy about it in white, but I loved it in black. Personally I find v-necks don’t do me a ton of justice, so I tend to stick to boatneck and scoops, but if you’re looking for an easy tee to add to your closet, this would be a great one. I am wearing a size large for an oversized fit but medium would have been good as well.
HALOGEN CARDIGAN | BP TEE | CITIZENS OF HUMANITY JEANS
This cardigan. Ahhhhh! It’s so soft and stunning in person, the length is amazing (just above the knee) and I love the bubble sleeve, which is going to be a huge trend this fall. This comes in black and taupe as well and it’s definitely a splurge since it’s 100% cashmere, but it’s also so comfortable and flattering on the body. I’m wearing a small but ended up purchasing the extra small so I would say it runs big.
JOIE SWEATSHIRT | CITIZENS OF HUMANITY JEANS
How cute is this ruched blush pink sweatshirt!? Love! The body is more of a slim fit, so I opted for a size large, which was great in the sense that it’s comfortable, still slim fitting but not tight and restrictive. I love the ruching down the sleeves and puff shoulders are cute but not overly poufy.
LEITH DRESSS | SOIA & KYO JACKET — CAN’T FIND ON WEBSITE (SIMILAR)
I’m so bummed this jacket isn’t showing up on the website because it’s absolutely stunning! Like the wool wrap coat I purchased two years ago, this is such a flattering piece for any closet. It looks amazing worn open or shut and the waterfall lapel is really gorgeous.
This would have came home with me but I’m wearing a small and it was good, but medium would be better–especially if I was to wear anything thicker than the dress underneath.
HALOGEN CARDIGAN | TEE — CAN’T FIND ON WEBSITE (SIMILAR) | AG DISTRESSED JEANS
This cardigan is thin and really soft. It’s something easy you could throw on top of a tee or a dress and wear it to the office. Super versatile and comes in a variety of colours.
I love these jeans! I purchased my first pair of AG denim at the NSALE last year, and have worn them a ton (seen here). I knew I would love this distressed pair when I saw them, and sure enough, they fit like a glove. With AG I find they run a tad big, so I always size down and am wearing a size 29 in these. It should be noted that these are more of a mid-low rise.
LEITH COCOON SWEATER CARDIGAN | BP LACE CAMI | BLANK NYC SUEDE SKIRT
This cocoon cardigan comes in a bunch of colours, and I love the taupe neutral shade. I’m wearing a size and would prefer a medium, for a slightly roomier fit. It hits just below the booty, so great to pair with leggings, jeans, skirts and dresses.
Again, this suede skirt is a dream, I sized down to a 29 and it’s slightly longer in the back. Definitely an amazing piece for fall!
REBECCA MINOKOFF SWEATER | AG DISTRESSED JEANS
I totally fell in love with this sweater, it has a twist in the back near the top, but you can still wear a real bra with it. The knit is tightly woven but stretchy and the pink is such a pretty colour. I am wearing a size large for a more oversized fit and love it!

THEORY COAT | BP LACE CAMI | RAG & BONE BLACK JEANS
This wool Theory coat is another piece that isn’t showing up on the website but I gasped when I saw it in store. I took it in, hoping I wouldn’t like it for it’s definitely a splurge, but it’s stunning. I’m wearing a size medium and it was a great fit except the underarms were a little snug inside, which was unfortunate. I would also like to note that there is no closure on this jacket, but it’s got a beautiful swing to it, pockets and the wool is thick. It would be so warm come winter plus look great with a leather belt keeping it shut.
You guys, these Rag & Bone jeans are aaaaaamazing! Just as I thought they would be, they are snug, fit tts (I’m wearing a 30) and slightly high waisted. They fit just like my dark denim skinnies I’m always raving about–stretchy and the kind that suck you in. I’m so excited to wear these for work and weekends and know I’m definitely going to get my money’s worth!
BP CARDIGAN | BP LACE CAMI | RAG & BONE BLACK JEANS
Another cute cardigan, this one is ribbed with pockets. There are so many choices for cardigans this year in the sale, so if you’re on the hunt and determined to find, I’m certain you will come across something.
I love love love this lace-satin cami, which I purchased in cream last year. They’ve brought it back and it’s a huge seller, and such a great closet basic. It fits true to size and I’m wearing a medium.
THREAD & SUPPLY TEDDY PULLOVER | RAG & BONE BLACK JEANS
I feel like everyone and their mother is talking about these teddy pullovers and zip ups, so of course I had to try it. My verdict: cozy, but pass. I felt super bulky up top, and while it was uber warm, I just feel like a sweatshirt would look better on me, personally. I’m wearing a medium, potentially could have gone with the small. Meh.
Calling all brides-to-be! How cute is this romper? The price is super budget friendly and I was hopeful I could wear this for an upcoming festivity, but unfortunately it was too short in the body. I would say it runs tts because I’m wearing a medium and everywhere else was a great fit. The detailing of the crochet and eyelet lace is so pretty, I would have purchased this if it came in tall sizing.

I purchased mine two years ago during the sale and have worn them almost weekly! They fit tts, I’m wearing a size 30, and they stretch out a bit as you wear them, but never too much. I would purchase these again because they are that good.
