Hey girls, how is your week going? We had a long weekend in Canada for Victoria Day, hence why these snaps are going up a little late. I also feel like I’m still recovering from such a jam-packed weekend 😛
First thing’s first: can we talk about the real adulting we’ve been doing this year? Haha. We purchased a new ride-on lawn mower and Marco was itching to get out there and cut the grass–too cute. The time has finally come and he’s been busy fertilizing (above) and cutting, which is awesome. We also spent a good chunk of time in the garden on Sunday re-staking a tree, which was leaning, so there’s that.
Jumping into some more fun parts though, on Saturday we threw my Mom a non-surprise birthday party at our place with close friends and family. It was a special birthday but she didn’t really want to celebrate, so naturally we convinced her this couldn’t go unrecognized and she finally gave in. My sister and I made countless sandwiches, platters, meatballs and had a beer & wine station. Marco whipped up truffle fries and two amazing kinds of sliders which we passed out as they came ready. Additionaly, Marco’s mom made her famous egg rolls which were (obviously) a huge hit.
For dessert we surprised my Mom with a black forest cake (her fave) and a smores cake, because one black forest cake isn’t though–which were huge hits. Such a fun afternoon.

That night, we had our friend’s birthday, so once everyone left, we quickly got ready and headed out.
There was around 12 people that joined for dinner at Arome at the Hilton at the Lac Leamy Casino–the food was so good–and then we went dancing afterwards. I was done by 1am though and after such an eventful day of go-go-go, and evening too, I hit the hay hard that night.

The next day I ran some errands and eventually ended up at the mall. I zipped into Zara and Forever 21 to try on a few things, but ended up walking out empty handed.
If you haven’t tried the sous-vide egg white bites (below) from Starbucks yet–omg they are delish! We recently purchased a Sous Vide machine and I’m trying to convince Marco he needs to try his hand at making these! They are a little pricey at Starbucks, but a great health-conscious option when you’re on the go.

I absolutely loved this top and might go back for it. It’s on the cropped side, so you’d have to wear it with something high waisted if you wanted to stay covered. I’m wearing a size large.
These pants were awesome–they are the highest waist I’ve ever found and being tall with a long-ish torso, most times, anything high waisted doesn’t cover my belly button, but these did! My only qualm for myself was I didn’t find them to be the most flattering on the front of my legs. I’m wearing a size 44.

This top was adorable and would be so good on vacation or for summer. The peplum is loose fitting but the top is a little cropped making it a great cocktail-friendly shape that won’t overwhelm at the same time 😉 I’m wearing a size large.
On Sunday morning, I was up early to get my day started. First up: my fave pancakes. Note: I always add about 1/3 – 1/2 cup of oats to the recipe to give them some more substance.
Then I was off to meet up with Lisa for a shoot. The weather was incredible and it was so great being out early in the sunshine.

It blows my mind that we had snow just one month ago and now the trees are in full bloom, shorts are out and it’s summertime! The best! So thankful to be getting some warm weather and fully indulging in spring.
Speaking of indulging, my bestie came over on Sunday afternoon and we literally just sat out on the back deck chatting and having wine all afternoon. It was the best. With two kids of her own, we don’t get a lot of opportunities to spend a full day literally doing nothing but enjoying each other’s company, so it was so wonderful! Sunshine & wine, always on my mind 😉
