Holy smokes–it’s almost Nordstrom Anniversary Sale time, so today I’m breaking down everything about the sale–what you need to know, when you can shop (Canadians & Americans) and a few things I’m already eyeing.
If you’re new, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, it’s an annual sale that happens every summer, this year at the beginning of August (usually in July, but #COVID), where they bring brand new fall merchandise out and put it on sale for just two weeks (up to 40% off)! Afterwards, everything goes back up to full price for the fall season. You can preview the sale here.
While I round up several different sales throughout the year, this is the one I shop (and save for) the most because the discounts are so huge. It’s the best time to snag pieces for your wardrobe, or even gifts–no matter your budget. There are great basics on sale, shoes, beauty products, workout gear and then there are also things like designer denim (my personal fave), coats for fall and winter, bags and more to look out for.
Today I’m answering all your questions about the sale, important dates, how to get early access and more. Ultimately, just trying to help you navigate the sale, find the best items and score them before they sell out. I know you girls have enjoyed shopping the sale together in year’s past, so here we go.

EARLY ACCESS & HOW TO SHOP
If you have a Nordstrom credit card, you can get early access to shop the sale before the public. I’m outlining the dates below:
August 4: First day of Early Access for select Card Members (see if you qualify here)
August 13: First day of Early Access to all Card Members
August 18: Last day of Early Access
August 19: Sale opens to public
August 30: Last day of the sale
August 31: All merchandise goes back up to full price
August 16: First day of Early Access for Nordy Club Ambassadors & Nordstrom Visa cardholders (in store only)
August 18: Last day of Early Access
August 19: Sale opens to public (in store only)
August 20: Sale opens to public (online @ 9:30am EST)
September 3: Last day of the sale
September 4: All merchandise goes back up to full price
As for the credit card, I got one three years ago and have enjoyed going in advance, when the merchandise is fully stocked and the stores aren’t as busy–but, this year is a little different, obviously with COVID. While some stores are open, online is definitely the way to go, especially since Nordstrom offers free shipping & free returns (or contactless curtsied pick up). Lastly, I’m not going to sit here and say you need to get this credit card to shop the sale, if you’re in the market for one, it’s an option to consider, and if you’re not, that’s okay too.
SHOP FROM HOME (PANDEMIC APPROVED 😉 )
In years past, I’ve always gone to Nordstrom and done a huge try-on for you girls in the fitting room (see them here from 2019, 2018, 2017 & 2016), plus outfit posts, videos, IG Stories and more.
This year I’m going to par it down quite a bit because (1) hello, baby on board, and honestly, just getting to my computer to get this post together has been challenging, (2) COVID makes me want to stay home (sort of), and (3) I have to agree that the sale it a little overkill at times. With everyone and their mother pushing every last item, it’s not always the most appealing thing to be following. Like the last couple years, I’m planning to purchase things I truly love and will wear for years to come.
Reminder: Each store is different and will carry different inventory, but online has it all.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What will be on sale?
Thousands of items ranging from women’s clothing, men’s clothing, children’s clothing, beauty, shoes, and more.
Do items get restocked during the sale?
Sometimes, but not always. I’ve seen things sell out on the first day, and not be restocked, and other times they are. Last year I was eyeing an All Saints leather jacket and planning to purchase the day Early Access opened, but because I went into the store instead of purchasing online, it sold out, and was never re-stocked. Ugh! That said, do sign in online (free), and favourite your items and keep an eye because people do make returns and sometimes you can score something that way!
Is there a promo code?
No, and all items in the sale will be highlighted under a special tab on the site where you will see the sale price and what the original price will be once the sale is over.

What kind of posts will you be doing?
I will be sharing a curated list of items I’m eyeing + items I would purchase if I didn’t already have something similar in my closet, what I purchase + will try to get a Try-On Tuesday up for you girls so you can see things on and styled.
I’ve also dedicated a page for all things #NSALE 2020 here, so bookmark that if you’d like to make it super easy to check back on where we’re at.
What types of items will you be buying?
Designer denim, anything Free People, investment pieces, affordable basics, activewear, boots & coats are my go-to’s.
Is what you see in the online preview, what will be on sale?
Yes, but likely more as well. The preview is just a portion of all the items that are new and on sale, and if it’s anything like year’s past, new items tend to be added as days go on, during the sale. I’m excited to see what else they have in store for us!
PREVIOUS NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALES
This is my fifth year shopping the sale and each year I’ve shared tons and tons of blog posts on how things fit, how I styled the pieces, what I purchased, my top picks and more.
